Third Grade
Students will learn the English parts of speech through the study and memorization of Latin.

Literature selections continue to increase in difficulty with opportunities to read multiple texts to increase speed, fluency, and expression. Literature includes teacher led discussion to deepen understanding of the texts. Students will also begin a study of poetry. Spelling will contain multisyllabic words and incorporate advanced phonograms.

Multiplication and division are formally introduced and memorized this year. Story problems, fractions, and place value become more advanced.
